LE BERCEAU DES ILES

In 1984 , Andre Poirier saw in the tourism industry on the Islands, just then at the beginning of its development, an interesting business opportunity. He decided to camp for the summer and rent is house to passing visitors.

In 1990, he decided to open a bed and brekfast offering 3 bedrooms with shared bath and a suite.

In 1995, he built a large annex to his original inn, adding a large living room, a bedroom with 2 double beds and complete bath, a suite with a whirlpool bath (jacuzzi) and an office.  A few years before, 2 cottages were constructed adjacent to the Inn.

In 1997, he took advantage of the opportunity to buy his first house for the purpose of renting it for the summer to visitors to the Islands.  Then followed a second and a third, so that by 2004 there was a choice of 11 houses of various sizes, situated in different sectors of the Islands.  Quite often, these houses required important renovations wich were carried out in good taste with respect for the architecture of the Islands' houses with their unique and colorful style.

All the houses offered for  rent are completely furnished and fully equipped: " you just have to bring your beach towel"

The car rental service began in 1995, offering at the time 3 cars.  The Inn offered 8 cars in 2004 and expect to expand to 15-20 cars in the near future.

The Inn was recognised on several occasions by the " Grand Prix du Tourisme Québec" for the region: "Reception and Quality of Customer Service" in 1997, "Award for a Small Tourism Enterprise" in 1999 and an award for "Excellence in Accomodation", category 6 to 49 rooms, in 2000 and 2002.
